Whether it's your sweet wife, mother, or best friend, they know exactly what they want, but especially what they don't want.

We can be so difficult sometimes. Trust me, even though women are excellent at shopping for themselves, they absolutely love a thoughtful gift from Santa! And what's better than a Christmas present just for her? It's wonderful to escape the holidays with a mini spa break or get the living room holiday-ready! We'd love to put up that cozy Christmas tree the day after Sinterklaas. A beautiful conifer with lights and baubles really adds to the atmosphere. However, there's also a downside to such a tree. Essentially, you buy a tree for a few weeks, and after the holidays, it ends up in the trash. What a waste, right?! There are several solutions for more environmentally friendly Christmas trees. If you want a real tree for your home, buy one locally. The needles are no different 30 km away. It saves gas and is therefore better for the environment. You can also rent or adopt a tree, which you return after the holidays.

Don't feel like having needles in your house? Then a fake tree is a good option, provided you buy it secondhand and/or use it for several years. Fake ones are, of course, made in a factory, and whether that's so good for the environment... So use that fake tree for several years until it's finished. It'll save you money and the annual search! Are you celebrating the holidays at home with your family, partner, or housemates? Then, of course, a delicious feast is a must! For most people, elaborate cooking or a gourmet meal is a part of Christmas. Create your own three-course meal and cook together, or prepare all sorts of tapas-style snacks. Enjoy appetizer platters with cheese, olives, and all sorts of other tasty treats, followed by a chocolate dessert. Make sure you do all your grocery shopping at once and don't forget anything (including Christmas cookies). Another fun idea: order a Christmas dinner from one of your favorite restaurants. Many restaurants are now offering takeout, so you can simply heat it up or serve it directly. Either way, set the table for a romantic dinner for two or more and grab your favorite wine glasses. These days, expensive table service is fine; it's time for a party!

Of course, you don't have to celebrate Christmas at home. Going on a sunny vacation might be a bit tricky, but what's wrong with a long weekend in the Netherlands? Book a nice hotel in a charming city or on the beach. Another huge recommendation: choose a Nature House or Airbnb somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Make it extra cozy by bringing some Christmas decorations and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Choose the classic "Home Alone" movies or browse the Christmas category on Netflix. You'll find a whole bunch of (extra corny) Christmas movies you'll love. Turn your living room into a home theater; dim the lights, light the candles, and don't forget the popcorn!

Many hands make light work, and what's better than helping someone else? See if they could use your help somewhere, like at the animal shelter, homeless shelter, or the retirement home around the corner. That's the spirit!

The holidays are also for relaxing. Take a moment for yourself and turn your home into a mini spa.
